Jack is a multi-talented physician with 20 years of clinical experience, board certification and an MBA. He has an extensive managed care background including commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and self funded employer plans and trusts. He has significant pharmacy and Medicare Part D experience including all aspects of formulary design, implementation and maintenance. Jack has an executive level understanding of the health care insurance industry, its structure and functional variants including HMO, IPAs, PHOs, Integrated Delivery Systems and matrixed organizations.
Jack is the President of Integrated Medical Dynamics. He provides clients with specific areas of expertise including Medicare Advantage, chronic disease management, pay for performance physician compensation plans and medical education.
As Chief Medical Officer for Sun Health MediSun Jack developed and implemented a comprehensive utilization management plan that resulted in an 80 bed day per K reduction in acute utilization, a reduction in psychiatric utilization from 180 bed days per K to 56 bed days per K and a 45% improvement in home health utilization. He developed a balanced score card methodology as the basis for a physician pay-for-performance plan that resulted in significantly improved HEDIS scores across all chronic disease indicators. His CareAssist disease management program yielded a 15% first year increase in patient participation.
In his role as Medical Director for Great West Life and Health he provided direct oversight for all medical, quality management and credentialing activities for self-funded plans covering 500,000 insured lives. During his tenure, inpatient commercial bed days dropped from 240 days per K to 162 days per K. This was accomplished simultaneously with the plan’s URAC accreditation.
While Executive Director for Scottsdale Integrated Management, a 160 physician, risk bearing IPA he executed a financial turn-around converting a $1.8 million accumulated operating deficit to $200K profit in 14 months
